UNIFIL Sector East supports public school with CCTV camera system
UNIFIL’s Sector East command recently completed a project installing a CCTV camera system in a public school in s, south-eastern Lebanon, to be used for educational purposes.

At the request of the local authorities, UNIFIL provided – from its Quick Impact Project (QIP) – around US$ 3,500 toward the project, which benefits 84 students (47 female and 37 males) and 25 teachers of the Public School of Ain Arab.

The newly installed system, which helps create a safe environment for the schoolchildren, was handed over to the School amidst a ceremony on 7 October.

Speaking at the ceremony, UNIFIL’s Spanish Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Fernando Noval García said the close coordination among local authorities will help UNIFIL implementing its mandated tasks. The headmistress of the School, Hiba Atwa, expressed her appreciation for the UNIFIL support.

UNIFIL QIPs are small-scale, rapidly implementable projects which are intended to address some of the most pressing needs of the population and support local authorities while strengthening links between UNIFIL and local communities.
