The Indianapolis-based Lumina Foundation has announced eleven grants totaling $3.2 million in support of organizations working to eradicate systemic racism in fields aligned with the foundation's work.

The first grants awarded through the foundation's $15 million Racial Justice and Equity Fund include $500,000 to Prairie View A&M University in support of its new Center for Race and Justice initiative; $500,000 to Report for America to elevate reporting on racial justice issues in local journalism; and $200,000 to the Steve Fund to elevate the need for improved mental health services among college students of color. Additional recipients include the National Congress of American Indians, which was awarded $200,000 to help ensure that Native American scholars can conduct research that advances Native American interests and priorities; Central Indiana Community Foundation, which will receive $500,000 in support of its Central Indiana Racial Equity Fund; and Pay Our Interns, which was awarded $200,000 to expand the "Color of Congress" report and advocate for paid internships for students of color
